Title: Golden Cake Bread
Categories: Breadmaker Dessert
Yield: 1 Loaf

1pkDry yeast
1/8c-warm water
1/2cSugar
1/4cLiquid shortening
1 Egg; beaten
1tsVanilla; (optional and I haven't used it yet)
1/2tsSalt
2 1/2cFlour
1/2cHot scalded milk (I just zap it in the micro for a minute)

Karen, here it is, and sorry to be so long returning to this board---been housecleaning and painting rooms...and mowing the yard, and spraying roses...you get the picture. But I've made this bread 3 times, all with terrific success.

(***This recipe is divided already, and may take a bit more flour--just check it during kneading process to make sure> it has enough.)

Put in yeast, water and sugar first, then all other ingredients, except add the scalded milk last so as not to kill the yeast.

Set on light. (Also, Karen, you can add butter flavoring, or omit some of the oil and add butter along with the oil to equal the correct amount.)---After you try it where you live allowing for humidity, etc., you may need to adjust it some, but I think all in all it's great!---Marsha
